Work to Begin on New Homes in Natland

Construction work is set to start on a new housing development in the Cumbrian village of Natland, to the south of Kendal.

Jones Homes is set to build 29 homes on land west of Sedgwick Road, including 19 new three, four and five-bedroom houses for private sale, and 10 affordable properties available through rent or shared ownership.

A full planning application for the site, which will be known as Helmdale, was approved by South Lakeland District Council planning committee in December, subject to a planning agreement. The first homes are expected to be released for sale this summer.

Carol Barlow, sales director for Jones Homes Lancashire, said: “Helmdale will form a logical extension to Natland and will provide high-quality homes of varying sizes to the village to help meet demand, including a mix of detached, semi-detached and mews-style properties. The village itself boasts a beautiful and historic setting with a handful of useful amenities, and the new development is just under three miles from Kendal town centre which provides other facilities such as supermarkets, independent retailers, pubs and restaurants. With construction work now set to begin at Helmdale, we are looking forward to releasing the first homes for sale in the coming months and creating a new community within the village.”

The developer is incorporating numerous measures to enhance biodiversity at Helmdale, including bat boxes, bird boxes and areas of wildflower turf.

Jones Homes is also building a mix of three, four and five-bedroom homes nearby in Kendal at its Stonecross Meadows development, with four and five-bedroom houses currently available to reserve from £449,995.
